Miles Washington led the UT Permian Basin attack on offense, but Eastern New Mexico took an early lead and never let up Thursday night as the Greyhounds took an 83-66 win over the Falcons Thursday night in Portales, N.M.
UTPB shot 50 percent as a team in the first half, but the Greyhounds held a 41-35 advantage at the halftime break.
Mo Walton helped the Falcons close within a single possession in the second half, cutting the Greyhound lead to 51-49 with a three-point play when he was fouled on a layup.
The two-point game was as close as the Falcons would get in the second half as Eastern New Mexico led by double-digits for most of the final 10 minutes of the game.
Walton led the Falcons with 14 points on 6-10 shooting from the field. Washington added 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds on the night.
Zach Parker led Eastern New Mexico with 17 points on 6-12 shooting, hitting three 3-pointers on the night.
The Falcons are back in action Saturday, taking on #7 West Texas A&M at 4 p.m. in Canyon, Texas.
