UT Permian Basin volleyball's three-game Lone Star Conference win streak came to an end Friday night as the Falcons suffered a 21-25, 20-25, 24-26 loss at West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas.
The Falcons looked set to force the match to a fourth set after a five-point run with kills by Analise Luci,
Haleigh Robinson and
Skyler Friel pushed the Falcons ahead 19-16 in the third. A three-point streak by the Lady Buffs tied the third set at 19-19, but the Falcons went ahead 22-19 after winners by Robinson and Friel and a block by Friel and
Marissa Aguilar. But West Texas A&M would go on to win seven of the next nine points to win both the set and the match.Â
Skyler Friel hit .440 on the night to lead the Falcons, ending the three-set match with 14 errors on 25 attempts with just three errors.Â
Friel also led the Falcons with eight total blocks as UTPB out-blocked WTAMU 12-8 on the evening.
Lucio had 18 assists to pace the Falcons, while
Sarah Vasquez had 19 digs to lead all Falcons.
UTPBÂ is back in road action Saturday afternoon, traveling to Portales, N.M. for a 1 p.m. contest at Eastern New Mexico.
