Game Recap: Baseball |

Javelinas Take Two from Falcons

UT Permian Basin dropped both ends of a double-header to Texas A&M – Kingsville Saturday in Odessa.

UTPB started off the first game with back to back triples by Dalton Drury and Tyler Frailey.  Kingsville took the lead off of sacrifice flies in the second and third innings to grab a 2-1 lead.  Frailey roped a single in the bottom of the third to tie the ballgame at 2.  A few batters later, Mitchell Hazlett hit into a fielder's choice to give UTPB the lead.  It fell apart in the fourth and fifth innings as Kingsville added seven runs, including three unearned in the fifth.  Mike Fernandez grabbed a run back off with a double in the bottom half of the inning but that's all the offense could do before ending with a final score 9-4.

Game two snowballed as Kingsville jumped out to an 8-0 lead after two innings.  UTPB got a pair of runs back off of a two-run single by Tony Oslovar.  That's all the offense could get as they couldn't figure out Kingsville's pitching only registering four hits.  Kingsville tacked on three runs in the fifth and two in the seventh for a 13-2 final.

Frailey finished the day with three hits and two RBI.  Drury added a pair of hits and Oslovar had a pair of RBI.  Simon Clarke had a double in the second game.  Matt Symczak took his third loss of the season in game one while Tyler Flores got the win.  Matt Williams took his first loss of the season in the second game while Lee May Gonzalez picked up the win in game two.

The teams finish up the four game series Sunday before taking off next weekend to take on Angelo State.
