Falcons Drop Series Opener to #9 Buffs 10-1

#9 West Texas A&M made its 11 hits count Thursday afternoon, scoring 10 times in a nine-run, 10-1 victory over UT Permian Basin baseball in the Falcons first Lone Star Conference game of the season at Roden Field in Odessa.

UTPB (4-22, 0-1) scored its lone run of the day on an Andrew Donovan RBI single into center field to score Skyler Palermo in the bottom of the seventh.

The West Texas A&M (23-7, 5-0) offense was bolstered by a pair of home runs from Christian Loya; a three-run shot in the top of the fifth inning, and a two-run blast in the top of the ninth.

Loya paced the Buff offense with three hits and five RBI on the day.

Mitchell Hazlett and Cooper Coe each led UTPB with a pair of hits on the afternoon.

The two teams continue play Friday afternoon with a pair of LSC contests. First pitch at Roden Field is set for 1 p.m.
