Falcons Drop Non-Con Series Opener Against Greyhounds

UT Permian Basin dropped the first game of a four-game series to Eastern New Mexico 5-2 on Friday in Odessa.

The Greyhounds got on the board first with an RBI single by Alex De La Cruz through the right side in the third inning. UTPB got that run back on an RBI single by Tony Oslovar in the third to tie it at one. De La Cruz drew a bases loaded walk in the sixth for the 2-1 Greyhound lead. They would add another run in the seventh on a fielder's choice.

Tylor Frailey would lead off the bottom of the inning with a triple to right center field. He would come into score on a balk to make it a 3-2 game. The Greyhounds would score a pair of unearned runs in the eighth to push the score to 5-2 and that would be the ballgame.

Alex Rivera took the loss for the Falcons and fell to 1-2 on the season. Seven pitchers went for UTPB with none throwing more than two innings. Jonathan Joy picked up his third win of the season for ENMU and Levi Shandrew picked up his first save in throwing the final three innings for the Greyhounds.

Skyler Palermo and Cooper Coe each had a double and Dalton Drury picked up a steal for UTPB.
