Tony Oslovar's two-out bottom of the seventh base hit with a pair of runners on base helped UT Permian Basin baseball to its first win of the season, a 4-3 walk off victory over Southern Nazarene Friday afternoon in Odessa.
UTPB scored four of the last five games in the second game of the day, tying the game at 2-2 on an infield single by Lance Wasson with the bases loaded and a sacrifice fly by Tylor Frailey.
Trailing 3-2 in the fifth,
Mike Fernandez scored Dalton Drury with a base hit through the right side of the infield to even the game at 3-3.
Alex Rivera recorded the win, throwing one inning of relief. He put two batters on base, giving up a walk and HBP while recording one strike out. The victory was his first decision of the year.
UTPBÂ scored the first run of game one, an eventual 3-1 loss, when Fernandez scored from third on a wild pitch in the first inning for an early 1-0 lead.
The Crimson Storm tied the game on a base hit RBI in the third and added a pair of runs in the top of the sixth.Â
The two teams return to Roden Field Saturday afternoon for two more seven-inning games. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
