UT Permian Basin women's basketball shot over 50 percent on the night from 3-point range, but Angelo State took advantage of turnovers Thursday night as the Rambelles left Odessa with an 83-61 victory.
UTPB hit 14-27 from beyond the arc on the night, including 6-8 from 3-point from
Sierra LaGrande. A pair of threes from
Jasmine Spriggins and LaGrande helped pull the Falcons back within five points midway through the second quarter to trail 31-26.
Angelo State took advantage of a turnover discrepancy on the night, scoring 33 points off of 25 Falcon turnovers in the game. UTPB held Angelo State to 41.8 percent shooting for the game, but the Rambelles went to the free throw line 27 times, making 18, while the Falcons were just 3-6 at the line.
LaGrande ended the night leading the Falcons with 19 points on 6-9 overall shooting, including a team-high four assists. Spriggins hit 3-5 from beyond the arc for 11 points off the bench, while Khali Pippins-Tryon and
Victoria Lopez each had 10 points to end the night in double figures.
Marquita Daniels led all players in the game with 29 points for Angelo State, while Ekiya Gray had a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds.
The Falcons close out their 2018 home schedule this Saturday, hosting Texas A&M - Kingsville at 2 p.m.
