A slow start from the field hurt UT Permian Basin women's basketball Thursday night as the Falcons lost 76-58 on the road at Texas Women's in Denton, Texas.
The Falcons opened the night shooting just 1-12 from the field in the first quarter while the Pioneers hit 6-of-9 on their way to a 22-13 lead.
UTPBÂ closed the gap from trailing 47-28 early in the second half to 47-38 as part of a 10-0 run early in the third quarter to get the lead back in single digits.
Jackie Perez led the Falcons with 13 points on the night, hitting three 3-pointers on the evening.
Jasmine Spriggins added eight points and a team-best five rebounds.
Bri'anna Gray led all players with 21 points on the night for Texas Woman's, hitting 6-9 from the field and 9-10 from the free throw line. Alexis Nezianya added 16 points and 17 rebounds for a double double.
UTPB stays on the road next week, traveling for games against Midwestern State and Cameron.
