UT Permian Basin men's basketball coach Josh Newman announced the team's first signing of the 2019 recruiting class as the Falcons added sophomore guard Ace Carter for next season.
"We are excited to announce Ace as our first signee to the 2019 class," said Newman. "Anytime you can start your recruiting class off with a Top 100 Junior College player in the country it's a good day! Ace is an exceptional high-level athlete with outstanding offensive talent. His ability to score around the basket or out in transition will bring Falcon fans to their feet. Besides Ace's ability to score in a variety of ways, we are excited about the toughness and physical play he brings to the defensive end. His length, commitment to playing hard and his athleticism make him an outstanding defender, rebounder and shot blocker."
Carter, a JUCO Top 100 Camp Member, is currently redshirting at Clarendon College and will have three years of eligibility remaining, averaged 11.1 points per game last season with the Bulldogs on 51.4 shooting from the field. He helped Clarendon to a 19-12 record last season and was second on the team with 8.4 rebounds per game. He scored in double figures 15 times in 28 games and had a season-high 26 points in an 85-79 win against Louisiana Christian Prep.
