UT Permian Basin Men's Basketball looks to continue its undefeated start to the 2018-19 season this weekend at the Courtyard Marriot Classic when the Falcons take on St. Mary's Friday night and tournament host Texas A&M Saturday night in Laredo.

UTPB is coming off a pair of wins in its opening weekend.  The Falcons picked up victories over a pair of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference foes a week ago, defeating Adams State 101-98 on opening night. A day later, the Falcons jumped out to a big lead in a 12-point, 98-86 win against Western State Colorado.

So far this season, UTPB leads all Lone Star Conference teams in scoring, averaging 99.5 points per game. That total is good for 10th in the nation in Division II. Those points have come from all across the board, as nine different players have scored in double figures in the two wins, and the Falcons have six players averaging at least 11 points per game.

Adam Rivera leads the team in both scoring and rebounds, averaging 16.5 points and 8.5 boards per game. Rivera and Kyree Elder each had a team-best 17 points in the win over Adams State, and Rivera had a game-high nine rebounds as UTPB out-rebounded the Grizzlies 40-30 on the day. A day later, Isaiah Hammons scored 21 points off the bench, hitting 6-10 from the field and 8-9 at the free throw line to pace the Falcons in the win over the Mountaineers.

St. Mary's enters Friday's matchup coming off their first win of the season, a 60-55 victory at Texas A&M Kingsville. The Rattlers opened the year with a pair of close losses at home, falling 86-85 to open the year against #18 Regis and fell 61-56 the next day against Colorado School of Mines. St. Mary's is led on offense by Markques Houston averaging 14.6 ppg as the Rattlers score 67 points per contest as a team.

Texas A&M International also enters this weekend 1-2 on the season, and also won its first game of the year this past week in a 67-55 win in their home opener against Southwestern Adventist. The Dustdevils opened the year with a 61-54 loss at Chadron State and fell 68-42 at South Dakota School of Mines. Xabier Gomez averages 14 ppg to lead Texas A&M International as the Dustdevils are scoring 54.3 points as a team through three games.
