Huge games by Sammy Allen and Josh Morris paced the #8 UT Permian Basin to a wire to wire 99-56 victory in Odessa Monday night over Arlington Baptist.
Allen finished the game for UTPB with a triple-double scoring 11 points to go with 12 rebounds and 10 assists. Not to be outdone Morris was unstoppable in the paint with 23 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double of his own.
After missing their first six shots, Arlington Baptist got within one point trailing 6-5 5:40 into the game but UTPB never looked back. UTPB outscored Arlington Baptist with 24 points in the paint in the first half compared to just 21 points total for Arlington Baptist.
UTPB came out firing in the second half stretching the lead on the back of Morris. UTPB continued to dominate in the paint scoring 54 points while shooting 53.8 percent from three.
The bench added 47 points for UTPB lead by Garrett Baggett with 15 points, all on threes, and Trayvond Massenburg was a perfect 6-6 shooting with 12 points and six rebounds including two dunks. Six Falcons scored in double digits in total and led by as many as 46.
Arlington Baptist shot 52 percent from the field in the second half but turned it over 16 times. The Patriots were led by Kel Wallace who scored 16 on 7-9 shooting in a team high 32 minutes.
UTPB travels to Texas A&M – Kingsville Thursday night followed by a road game against Angelo State Saturday night.
