A huge double-double by Josh Morris powered #9 UT Permian Basin past Eastern New Mexico University 94-77 in Odessa.
Morris finished the night with 17 points on 7-9 shooting, 15 rebounds and six assists for UTPB. Daeshon Francis finished the night with a team high 20 points to go with six rebounds and five assists.
UTPB came out on fire with Francis scoring 11 halfway into the first half to grab a 28-11 lead. Eastern New Mexico was able to trim the lead to single digits on a Maurice Coleman basket with 4:28 to go in the first half before Amari Bryant and Garrett Baggett had baskets on consecutive possession. UTPB went into the half leading 48-39 with Morris leading the way with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Zach Parker score seven points in the first three minutes of the second half to keep the Greyhounds in the game. An 8-2 run by the Falcons pushed the lead to 17 with 12 minutes to go and with Sammy Allen and Morris in foul trouble it was more than enough to coast to a victory.
Six Falcons finished in double figures as Garrett Baggett scored 14 on 4-5 shooting from three, James McPherson added 12 points with five rebounds, Allen scored 11 to go with nine rebounds, and Zeldric King added 10 off the bench. For the game the Falcons shot 55.4 percent including 60 percent in the second half.
The Falcons dominated down low, winning the rebound battle 46-29 and outscoring the Greyhounds 68-18 in the paint.
Parker led the Greyhounds with 24 points connecting on three three-pointers.
Next week the Falcons hit the road to take on #11 West Texas A&M on Tuesday before having the weekend off and traveling to Midwestern State on February 8.
