#7 Angelo State wrapped up a series sweep over UT Permian Baseball Sunday, defeating the Falcons 8-5 in San Angelo, Texas.
UTPB fell in a hole early on as a Steven Pinales home run put the Rams up 2-0 in the first, and they added three more runs in the bottom of the third for a 5-0 lead.
Tyler Houlihan grabbed a pair of runs back in the top of the fifth with his first home run of the year, driving home
Doug Clapperton to pull within 5-2.
Angelo State tacked on three unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull out to an 8-2 lead.
Mike Fernandez added a pair of runs in the ninth, driving in
Chris Ortega and Clapperton with a double into left field.
Clapperton was perfect at the plate in the game, hitting 4-4 with a walk and two runs scored out of the leadoff spot in the lineup as UTPB out-hit the Rams 11 to 9.
UTPB closes out the season this coming weekend with a four-game series against Eastern New Mexico Friday through Sunday.
