UT Permian Basin women's basketball was out-rebounded 52-25 Saturday afternoon as Texas Woman's pulled away for a 78-61 win in Lone Star Conference action.
The Falcons got in an early hole, giving up seven straight points midway through the first quarter to trail by nine points 16-7.
After trailing by as many as 11 points, UTPBÂ closed the gap within a pair of points on back-to-back baskets by
Jasmine Spriggins the second off a steal and fast break layup.
While The Falcons were unable to take the lead in the second, they out-scored the Pioneers 19-18 and trailed by four at halftime.
UTPBÂ kept the game close until Texas Woman's out-scored the Falcons by 10 in the fourth quarter, 23-13, in the 17-point TWU win.
Spriggins and LaGrande each scored 14 points on the day. LaGrande hit four 3-pointers and led the team with four assists.
Grace Mitchell led all players with 27 points and 15 rebounds, hitting 11-15 from the field with five assists.
UTPBÂ is back at home next Friday, hosting St. Edward's in non-conference action at 6 p.m.
