UT Permian Basin women's basketball played its third game in five days to open the 2017-18 season, falling 85-58 on the road against Division-1 New Mexico State in Las Cruces, N.M.
Briana Caro led the Falcons with 11 points off the bench on the night.
UTPB was held to 31.8 percent shooting from the floor on the night, while hosts New Mexico State hit over 51 percent from the field.
Sierra LaGrande added nine points on 3-6 shooting from the 3-point line, and
Victoria Lopez and Jackie Perez each had eight points while Perez led the Falcons with seven rebounds.
Gia Pack led all scorers with 18 points for New Mexico State.
UTPB is back on the road this weekend, taking on St. Mary's and Lubbock Christian Friday and Saturday nights in Lubbock, Texas.
