UT-Permian Basin baseball did all of its damage in the bottom of the 9th Saturday, scoring three times with the potential tying run on deck, but the Falcons succumbed to 13th-ranked St. Edward's 8-3 at Roden Field.
Tyler Houlihan put the Falcons on the board for the first time, firing a line drive through the left side of the infield to drive in
Jack Miller and
Jackson Pritchard.
David Fetkenher followed up with a single into left field that scored
Mike Fernandez.
St. Edward's made its mark in the game primarily in the fourth and seventh innings. The Hilltoppers scored three unearned runs in the fourth and added four more runs in the seventh, the first three coming on extra-base hits.
Miller, Houlihan and Fetkenher each led the Falcon offense with a pair of hits on the afternoon.
UTPB is back in action this weekend, traveling to Wichita, Kan. for three games at Newman.
