UTPB women's basketball out-scored St. Mary's 38-32 in the second half of Saturday afternoon's Heartland Conference contest, but it wasn't enough to overturn a 19-point Rattlers lead after the first half in a 77-64 defeat in San Antonio.
Niniva Taito led the Falcons with 16 points on the afternoon, while
Khadijah Vigil added 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Rebounds hurt the Falcons in the first half as St. Mary's grabbed 24 boards to 11 for the Falcons, including 11 on the offensive end.
UTPB held St. Mary's to 0-7 from 3-point in the second half, hitting three of its own to out-scoring the Rattlers by six points.
The Falcons are back this weekend for the final time in 2016, hosting Oklahoma Panhandle State Thrsday night at 5:30.
