Texas A&M International out-scored UT-Permian Basin women's basketball 20-9 in the fourth quarter Thursday night, ending any chances of the Falcons completing a comeback as UTPB suffered a 60-47 loss in Laredo, Texas.
Trailing 31-22 at halftime, the Falcons got back into the game behind a 16-9 third quarter to trail by two, 40-38, heading into the final 10 minutes of the game.
Niniva Taito bookended scoring for the Falcons in the third. She started off the quarter with a 3-pointer that pulled the Falcons within six points at 31-25, and pulled UTPB within a single possession with a pair of free throws with four seconds left to trail 40-38. Taito led the Falcons with seven points in the quarter to trail by two heading into the fourth.
Texas A&M International hit a pair of free throws on its first two possessions in the fourth quarter and scored 11 of the first 13 points in the first 2:29 of the fourth to pull out to a double-digit 51-40 lead as the Falcons never got back closer than seven points throughout the remainder of the night.
Taito tied for the team lead with 17 points on the night, hitting 3-7 from 3-point range in the game.

Khadijah Vigil each added 10 points, with Peevy grabbing nine rebounds and Vigil collecting eight boards.
Keiona Mathews paced the Dustdevils with 17 points on the evening.
