UT Permian Basin men's basketball led by just three points, 35-32 with four minutes to play in the first half, but the Falcons out-scored Southwestern Adventist 18-6 to close out the half before scoring 60 points in the second half of a 113-62 win Friday afternoon in Laredo, Texas.
The Falcons shot 25-41 from the field in the second half, connecting on 61 percent of their attempts, and hit 7-14 (50 percent) from beyond the arc.
Daeshon Francis, the current reigning Lone Star Conference offensive player of the week, hit 13-15 from the field and all eight of his free throws to lead the Falcons with 34 points to go with five assists and nine rebounds.
UTPB had six players end the night in double-digits in scoring, including four of five starters.
James McPherson scored 14 points with four assists, and
Johnnie Lacy scored all 13 of his points in the second half.
Josh Morris added 10 points on 4-5 shooting, while
Andres Villa was a perfect 5-5 from the field for 10 points and
Vinnie Abbondola was 5-6 from 3-point range.
UTPB out-reboudned SWAU 44-29 on the afternoon and forced 20 turnovers to 13 committed.
The Falcons continue action Saturday night in Laredo, taking on Paul Quinn at 5 p.m.
