UT Permian Basin men's basketball reversed an early nine-point deficit to out-score University of the SOuthwest 73-48 in the second half of a 119-93 victory in its home opener at the UTPB Gym Tuesday night.
Despite giving up 11 of the first 13 points of the game, UTPB held a one-point 46-45 advantage behind 15 points from
Johnnie Lacy.
Daeshon Francis led the Falcons with 15 points in the second half as four UTPB players dcored in double figures in the final 20 minutes.
Josh Morris scored 14 points in eight minutes on 7-10 shooting;
James McPherson hit three 3-pointers for 10 points, and Vinnie Abondola hit 4-5 from the field to score 10 as the Falcons shot 59 percent (27-46).
Francis led the Falcons with 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds on the night while leading the team with five assists. Lacy added 20 points and Morris double-doubled with 18 points and 12 rebounds, eight on offense.
Sammy Allen was a monster on the glass, ending the game with 16 rebounds, seven of them offensive.
David Blaylock and Leroy Cox each had 26 points for the Mustangs.
