Midwestern State scored on each offensive possession in the first half and held UTPB to a single touchdown in the first half as the Mustangs defeated the Falcons 76-21 Saturday night at Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls, Texas.
UTPB got on the scoreboard with 3:54 remaining in the first half when Kameron Mathis found
Mitchell Leonard for a nine-yard touchdown. The scoring play on fourth and goal from the nine-yard line capped a 10-play, 73 yard drive that featured a 40 yard pass to
Terrell Davidson and a pair of double-digit rushes by Marquise Simmons in the middle of the series to bring the Falcons into the red zone.
Mathis added a 10-yard touchdown to
Jake Anglin in the third quarter, and Marquise Simmons ran it in from four yards out in the fourth for the team's third touchdown of the game.
Jordan Williams led the Falcons with 94 yards rushing in the game on 22 carries. Simmons added 59 yards on another 22 carries with the touchdown rush.Â
Mathis threw for 216 yards, finding Anglin five times for 64 yards, both team-highs.Â
Diameon Brewer led the defense with seven solo tackles and nine total on the night.
