Lubbock Christian women's basketball showed why they're the #1 team in the nation Thursday night, shutting down the UT-Permian Basin offense in a 70-34 Heartland Conference game at the Rip Griffin Center in Lubbock, Texas.
UTPB was held to just 21.8 percent shooting on the night, connecting on only 3-21 attempts from 3-point range.
The Falcons matched the Lady Chaps when it came to 3-point defense as LCU shot seven percent from long range, hitting just 1-14 behind the arc, but shot over 53 percent in the first half and shot 17-21 as a team from the free throw line on the evening.Â
Lubbock Christian used their size inside to its advantage, out-rebounding the Falcons 45-30.
Jau'nae Peevy led the Falcons with 10 points on the night while grabbing a team-high eight rebounds.
Allison Szabo paced four Lady Chaps in double figures with 14 points.
UTPB stays on the road this weekend, traveling to Oklahoma for a 1:30 p.m. Saturday contest at Oklahoma Panhandle State.
