Lubbock Christian shot lights out from the field in both halves Thursday night as the Chaps downed UT-Permian Basin men's basketball 82-71 Thursday night at the Rip Griffin Center in Lubbock, Texas.
LCU combined to shoot above 50 percent in both halves Thursday, hitting 57.1 percent of its field goals on the game (28-49).
3-pointers helped the Falcons lead for much of the first half, as UTPB connected from deep seven times in the first 20 minutes.
Johnnie Lacy hit 3-5 behind the arc and
Codye Hatcher was 2-2 on his only attempts from behind the 3-point line on the season. UTPB led by as many as six points a couple of different times in the half until Lubbock Christian went on an 11-3 run to close out the first half and lead 39-33 at halftime.
Lubbock Christian continued its run in the second, scoring the first four points to take a 10 point advantage.
The Chaps held off any attempt at a UTPB comeback in the second half as the Falcons never got closer than 10 points over the final 14:52 of the night.
Lacy led UTPB with 23 points and four assists, hitting 5-12 from 3-point range. Hatcher added 15 points on 4-8 shooting with a team-high six rebounds.
Tyler Rogers led Lubbock Christian with 19 points off of the bench.
UTPB is back on the road Saturday, traveling to Oklahoma Panhandle State for a 3:30 p.m. conference match up.
