UTPB baseball got six innings of one-run ball from starter

The Falcons responded to Lubbock Christian taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth in game two by coming back to score a pair on a crucial throwing error from third to first that let
David Lee and
Bryan Van Vranken score to grab a 2-1 lead.
Jose Sierra later laid down a perfect squeeze bunt to the first base side of the pitchers mound that allowed
Alfred Iturralde to score at home to double up the team's lead to 3-1.
Paramapoonya gave up a lone run on a single in the top of the fourth. The senior lefty limited LCU to just three hits and a walk while striking out four Chaps.
Brooks Eady put two on and struck out one while throwing scoreless seventh and eighth innings, and
Nolan Schattel came in to hurl a perfect ninth to record his 10th save of the season.
Lubbock Christian had scored first as well in the opener when Gerardo Arzaga hit his team-leading fifth home run of the season with two runners on base for a 3-0 lead in the top of the second.
The Falcons came back, scoring a run in each of the fifth and sixth on RBI base hits by Iturralde and
Daniel Andrade to trail 3-2 after six.
The Chaps added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh, getting two RBI doubles to lead 5-2.
The Falcons close out the regular season Saturday afternoon with Lubbock Christian, looking to end the season on a high note with the second annual Falcon Strong game before heading to next week's Heartland Conference Championships.
