UTPB Men's Basketball poured on the points for the second time in thee days Friday, hitting the century mark for the second time in as many games in a 108-60 defeat of Southwestern Adventist in Laredo, Texas.
The Falcons never trailed after tying the game at 4-4 on a free throw by
Tramique Sutherland at 16:40 in the first half.
Codye Hatcher carried the Falcons to a 49-34 lead at halftime, hitting 8-of-9 from the floor to score 16 points.
Gary Akbar added eight points and six boards and
Billy Dee Williams hit a pair from beyond the arc to add eight points in the opening 20 minutes as the Falcons connected on 20-of-36 from the field to shoot 55 percent.
Hatcher ended the game as one of six Falcons to reach double figures, missing just one shot all game (11-12) to lead UTPB with 22 points with eight reboudns. Akbar led UTPB in rebounded, getting a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Williams finished the game with 16 points and tied for the team lead with five assists.
Mario Fleurima scored 11 on the day and
Johnnie Lacy and
Josh Williams each scored 10 points.
The Falcons look to keep their hot shooting intact Saturday night, facing Paul Quinn in Laredo at 5 p.m.
