The UT-Permian Basin Women's Basketball team pulled out its first win of the 2015-16 season Saturday afternoon, engineering a second half comeback to grab a 66-62 victory over Western New Mexico in Goodwell, Okla.
Trailing by 11 points, 36-25, at halftime, the Falcons started their comeback early in the fourth quarter when UTPB scored seven straight, five from Shannah Taylor, to trail 55-51.Â
Taylor later tied the game at 56-56 with 5:44 remaining in the contest on a 3-pointer, and the Falcons took the lead when Khadjah Vigil hit one of two at the free throw line with 3:39 to play.
The lead switched hands two different times between the teams in the final three minutes, but a
Kayla White layup at 1:57 put the Falcons in front for the final time 63-62.
White hit a pair at the line with 1:24 to play to go ahead by three, and
Victoria Lopez wrapped up the win with a free throw to make it a two possession game as just one second remained.
 Taylor led the UTPB offense with 15 points on the day, while Lopez scored 12 and
Niniva Taito added 11 points. Lopez also held the team lead on the glass with six rebounds and had a team-best four assists.
The Falcons come home for the first time this season this coming week, hosting Arlington Baptist Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m.
