UTPB Volleyball suffered a 3-1 road loss Saturday afternoon, falling to St. Edward's in conference action in Austin, Texas.
The Falcons countered a 21-25 opening set loss by coming out to take the second 25-11. UTPB broke a 2-2 tie to score the next six points and the Falcons found themselvesa head later in the set 17-5. UT-Permian Basin scored five of the final six points in the second in the 14-point win.
UTPB nearly sent the match to a fifth set, storming out in the fourth to a 13-7 lead. The Falcons came back late in the set from trailing 21-19 to score four straight to lead 23-21, but the Hilltoppers reached match point at 24-23. UTPB had a chance to take the set two different times until St. Edward's scored the final three points of the match to win 28-26 in the fourth.
Morgann Davis led the UTPB attack with 12 kills on the afternoon and had a team-high three blocks.
Jordan McDonald led all UTPB players with 20 digs, and
Ariana Gallardo had 34 assists.
The Falcons are back home this week, taking on Texas A&M International Thursday night at 7 p.m.
