Box Score UTPB women's soccer kept a ferocious New Mexico HIghlands attack off the scoreboard in the opening 45 minutes, but the Cowgirls scored two quick goals to open the second half on their way to a 4-0 defeat of the Falcons in the season opener for both teams Friday night at the UTPB Soccer Field.

UTPB goalkeeper Ebony Campbell stopped all seven shots on goal she faced in the first half of her first game for the Falcons.

Jasmine Waugaman and Anyssa Dagnino put the Cowgirls in command shortly after halftime as Waugaman tallied the first goal of the day from the left side of the box 1:16 into the second half. Dagnino doubled up the New Mexico Highlands advantage by dribbling a throughball around Campbell and scoring into an empty net.

Megan Finney and Zoey Hooper added on goals for the Cowgirls late in the second half for the 4-0 win.

Jasmin Lopez led UTPB with a pair of shots in the game and had a shot on goal along with Mckina MIcheal and Alyssa Eich.

The Falcons continue early season non-conference action later this weekend, hosting Adams State Sunday night at 7 p.m.
