UTPB Men's and Women's tennis each earned a pair of 8-1 victories Tuesday afternoon on the road against University of the Southwest in Hobbs, N.M.
Shelby Greene earned a 6-1, 6-3 win at #1 singles as the Falcons went 5-1 in singles on the women's side.
Olivia Baltazar took the #2 singles match 6-0, 6-2.
Ynez Sanchez defeated Jacinda Hatfield 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 in #4 singles,
Sydney Holdampf knocked off Amber Garcia 6-0, 6-2 at #5 and #6
Rebecca Stafford won without dropping a game 6-0, 6-0.
UTPB swept each doubles match, starting with the #1 team of
Alexandra Maytubby and Shelby Green winning 9-7. The #2 team of Holdampf/
Sarah Palacio and #3 team of Stafford/
Sofia Ochoa Arminana each earned 8-4 victories.
On the men's side, #1
Jonathan Rutledge earned a three-set, 7-6, 4-6, 7-6 win over Max Stadkovsky. At #2 singles,
Alvaro Sifuentes defeated Thomas Mizera 6-4, 7-6.
Adam Cheney earned a #4 singles win 6-3, 7-5 against Anthony Cena.
Caio Aguiar took a three-set win over Alex Sandoval 7-6 6-7, 6-3, and
Mateus Munhoz won in straight sets 6-0, 6-1 against Denis Sladkovsy.
UTPB's three doubles teams each won, with Jaxon Imler and Sifuentes winning 8-6, Aguiar and Cheney winning 8-4, and
Edgar Lazcano and Rutledge winning 8-5.
