Box Score UTPB women's soccer scored a season-high eight times Friday afternoon, blanking McMurry 8-0 in its last non-conference game of the season at the UTPB Soccer Field.
The Falcons took an early lead when
Mallory Martin scored her first of the season after 61 seconds on a header from a cross by
Skylar Bluebird.
UTPB doubled up its lead when
Ashley Redwine scored in the sixth minute, taking a ball passed by
Mirla Suarez over the McMurry back line before dribbling around the McMurry keeper and firing into the back of the net.
Martin scored her second of the game at 12:25 on a turnover deep in the War Hawk defensive zone, and the Falcons went on top 5-0 when
Alexa Branum scored twice in three and a half minutes.
The Falcons added two more goals late in the first half.
Alyssa Eich scored her first of the year off a deep shot from 30 yards out, and
Jasmin Lopez shot above the keeper's head from 25 away with eight seconds remaining in the half to go into halftime leading 7-0.
Emma Martinez scored the lone goal in the second half, taking a throughball from
Danica Hansen for her first of the season.
The Falcons close out their 2014 home season this coming week, hosting St. Edward's Monday afternoon at 12 p.m.
