Rogers State Sends Women's Soccer to 4-2 Loss

Box Score UTPB women's soccer scored twice after giving up two straight goals, but was unable to mount a comeback in a 4-2 loss Monday afternoon against Rogers State in Heartland Conference action at the UTPB Soccer Field.

Paige Pontarolo scored her second and third goals of the season for Rogers State early in the first half, both coming five minutes apart to put the Hillcats on top 2-0 by 23:23.

Ashley Redwine answered with her first of the season for the Falcons a minute and a half later, heading in a corner off the ground and past the RSU goalkeeper to cut the lead to 2-1.

The Hillcats came back to score the next two, both by leading goalscorer Blair Thomas. She scored her sixth of the year at 28:20 and increased the lead to 4-1 in the third minute of action after halftime.

Mirla Suarez scored the second goal of the day on another corner, both coming off the foot of Skylar Bluebird on what was the last goal of the afternoon to get the Falcons within 4-2.

Rogers State had 16 total shots to 10 for the Falcons, and was able to put eight attempts on net to five for UTPB.

UTPB is back at home at the end of the week, hosting McMurry Friday afternoon at 5 p.m.
