Alex Ruata set a new pool record at Andrews as the UTPB men's and women's swimming teams competed against Big XII member Texas Christian Sunday afternoon in Andrews, Texas.
Ruata won the men's 100 breaststroke in 57.43, setting a new high mark at the Andrews High School pool. The time, half a second off his fastest from all of last season, ranks as the fifth fastest in the event in division II and is top 50 across all NCAA divisions.

Ariana Marek set a top 10 time for the program with a 1:42.25 in the 200 freestyle relay
Other strong times for the UTPB men included the 200 Medley team of
Jack Maloy, Ruata,
Kyle Smith and
Kyle Marshall finishing with a 1:37.47, and Ruata took second place in the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 1:57.89.Â
Good finishes for the women included Slater and
Amanda Alspaugh swimming the 500 freestyle in 5:22.25 and 5:22.74, respectively. Sammi Strohmeyer finished the 100 backstroke in 1:03.33, and Covey recorded a time of 1:13.70 in the 100 breaststroke.
The Falcons are back at home Saturday afternoon, hosting McMurry in a dual starting at 2 p.m.Â
