Kourtnye Chandler scored with 2:18 remaining in the University of Texas of the Permian Basin women's soccer match against Lubbock Christian, notching her second goal of the day to give the Falcons their first win of the season in a 2-1 non-conference victory.
Chandler gave the Falcons an early lead in the first half, scoring her second goal of the season at 11:50 on a header off of a corner kick by
Sal Gebre. The entry pass was her third assist of 2013.
Lubbock Christian knotted the contest at 1-1 10 minutes later on a goal over the head of UTPB keeper
Bridget Esquivel by Emily Odom.
The score remained unchanged for nearly 76 minutes until Chandler's game-winner came at 87:42 on her team-leading third goal of the season.
Lubbock Christian held a sizeable 19-10 total shot lead, but each team had six shots on goal.
Esquivel earned her first win of the season in goal, making five saves on the day.
UTPB is off for the next week and a half before playing LCU for the second time in two matches, hosing the Lady Chaps in the Heartland Conference opener for both teams.
