The University of Texas of the Permian Basin women's soccer team grabbed a 1-0 lead shortly before halftime to head into the intermission witha single-goal advantage Tuesday night, but gave up a pair in the second half in suffering a 2-1 loss at Wayland Baptist in Plainview, Texas.
Kourtnye Chandler scored her first of the season on an assist by
Sal Gebre in the 45th minute, just 51 seconds before halftime.
Wayland Baptist responded in the second half, getting goals from katherine Teinert and Haley Reiser 14 minutes apart in the 61st and 75th minutes to hold off the Falcons with a 2-1 final score.
Gebre led UTPB with three shots on the night, and she and Chandler each had one attempt on goal.
The Falcons are back in action Thursday night, traveling to San Antonio for a 7 p.m. game at Incarnate Word.
