The University of Texas of the Permian Basin wrapped up its opening home weekend Sunday afternoon with a 2-0 loss to Fort Lewis.

Emma Cannis scored both goals on the afternoon for the visiting Skyhawks, hitting paydirt in the 19th minute when she dribbled a ball that had been deflected uncovered down the middle of the field to score past UTPB keeper Bridget Esquivel.

She added an insurance goal 27 minutes in the second half, heading in a cross from the top right of the box that was sent to the left post 71:35 into the contest.

Mallory Martin and Sal Gebre each had a shot on goal for UTPB, Martin coming off of a deflection on a UTPB corner, and Gebre from the right slot at the right side of the net. Esquivel ended the match with eight saves.
