The UTPB men's and women's tennis teams kicked off its 2013 home schedule Saturday morning as the women defeated McMurry 5-4 while the men suffered an 8-1 defeat against the War Hawks at the Bush Tennis Center in Midland, Texas.

The Falcons picked up all five of their wins in singles, beginning at #1 as Casey Acosta defeated Lauren Renner 7-5 & 6-4. Kassy Chavez earned a 7-6, 6-7, 10-6 win at #2 singles over Dana LeMieux. Alehanna Gomez took the #3 singles win over Jessica Bentley 6-4 & 6-2, while Olivia Balthazar won at #4 singles 6-2, 5-7 & 10-7 against Chelsea Miller and Ynez Sanchez took the #6 singles win 6-1 & 6-1 over Autumn Patterson.

The doubles team of Meliton Morales and Justin Delgato earned the lone point on the men's side, winning 8-4 in #3 doubles against Christiano Mendez and Dani Perez of McMurry.

The men return to action Sunday, Feb. 17 against St. Edward's, while the women are back on the courts in two weeks against Our Lady of the Lake.
