UTPB men's and women's swimming closed out its home schedule for the year with a dual meet Saturday afternoon in Midland against Trinity. Trinity was the lone school to feature competitors in the diving events, leading to a 143-130 defeat for the UTPB men while the women were knocked off 190-98.
UTPB combined to win 12 events on the day, with each team winning a relay event. The men took first in the 200 Medley, with the group of
Kyle Smith,
Alex Ruata,
Mark Dix and
Kyle Marshall winning in 1:37.00. The women's team of
Peyton Slater,
Hannah Hamilton,
Samantha Chin and
Lauren Porras took first place in the 200 Freestyle in 1:43.51.
Ruata won three events for the men's team, winning the 100 breaststroke in 58.25, the 200 breaststroke in 2:13.89 and the 200 IM in 1:57.78.
Kyle Smith added a win in the 100 backstroke with a time of 54.75, and
Oscar de Smidt took first in the 100 butterfly in 53.61.
Slater won the 200 freestyle for the women with a result of 2:00.43.
Courtney Johnson won a pair of events, taking first in the 100 backstroke (1:04.21) and 200 backstroke (2:17.07), and Porras also won twice on the day with wins in the 50 freestyle (25.73) and 100 freestyle (56.35).
The Falcons return to the pool in two weeks, competing in the College Swimming Invitational Nov. 23-24 in Southlake, Texas.
