Brooke Saxton's second goal of the season came in the 102nd minute Saturday night, ending the second overtime session 1:40 in as the Falcons held off Texas A&M International for a 1-0 win Saturday night at the UTPB Soccer Field.
Saxton was waiting deep in the box as
Sal Gebre fired a cross from the left side of the field. She brought it down and had enough time to fire into the right side of the net to break a scoreless tie in the second and final overtime session of the contest.
The Falcons played the final 27 minute a player down after
Jessica Saulter was sent off in the 76th minute in a match that featured six total cards issued in a 40-minute span.
Each team was able to get off a shot in the overtime period, the Dustdevils sailing high over the crossbar at 97:50.
The Falcons had the game's best scoring chance in regulation when
Alyssa Eich hit the outside of the corner of the net and deflected out of bounds at 34:25 in the first half.
Texas A&M International held a 9-7 shot lead overall on the night as they were able to get four shots on net to UTPB's three.
Bridget Esquivel came up with her first shutout of the season, stopping all four shots she faced on the evening.
The Falcons return to action at home to start the week, facing St. Mary's Monday afternoon at 2:30.
