Box Score

Bria Smith-Porter scored her second goal of the season late in the first half to enter halftime trailing 2-1, but a late second half goal put the game out of reach as the University of Texas of the Permian Basin dropped a 3-1 Heartland Conference contest Saturday afternoon against St. Mary's at the UTPB Soccer Field.

Katie Kasperitis and Ashleigh Wells  each scored within three minutes of each other to give the Rattlers a 2-0 lead.

Smith-Porter cut their lead in half with just under four minutes remaining in the first half, scoring on a rebounded put-back shot to send the Falcons into the half trailing by one.

St. Mary's got an insurance goal in the 87th minute from Leia Kirch to put the Rattlers up by the final 3-1 score.

Jessica Saulter led UTPB with three shots on the day, all of them coming on goal. Jenna Easley made five saves in net in just over a half of action.

UT-Permian Basin returns to action this Thursday, hosting future Heartland Conference member Oklahoma Christian at 5 p.m.
