The University of Texas of the Permian Basin rebounded from allowing an early goal right after the start of the match to enter halftime tied 1-1, but a pair of second half scores by McMurry took the momentum away as the Falcons lost 3-1 Tuesday night in the first night contest at the UTPB Soccer Field.
Savannah Whitaker put the War Hawks on top just seconds after the starting whistle, taking a pass from Aleria Luna from the midfield circle and beating UTPB keeper Victoria Easley just 10 seconds in to the start of play to take a 1-0 lead.
The Falcons responded by putting pressure on McMurry over the remainder of the half, coming close on a number of scoring chances as they out-shot McMurry 14-5 over the first five minutes.
Kendeal Stark eventually connected to tie the match at 1-1 in the 31st minute, heading an
Alyssa Eich cross from the right side from just in front of the left side for her first goal of the season.
McMurry came out hard after halftime, scoring foals from Aleria Luna and Savannah Witaker six minutes apart starting at 55:13 of the match to take a commanding two goal lead.

UTPB returns to home action in two days, hosting Houston Victoria. Game-time is scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
