Five seniors went out in fine fashion as The University of Texas of the Permian Basin women's basketball team cruised to an 88-57 victory in the last home game of the season.  Tammy Acosta, Tina Lira, Cashena Mathis, Lauren Unger and Liseth Orrego combined to score 39 points, while Acosta set a single-game record with 11 assists in the victory.

Acosta, who already owns the all-time scoring mark at UTPB, now has 532 assists and is two away from holding that record as well.

The Falcons opened the game with a 13-0 run and never looked back as they led by over double-digits after the first 3:40 of action.  UTPB used stifling defense, causing 28 turnovers which resulted in 30 extra points.  The Falcons also used a balance scoring attack as four players scored in double-figures with Taniqua Ards leading the way with 16.  Unger and Teisha King both put in 12 while Acosta added 11.

UTPB took a commanding 42-15 halftime lead and would eventually lead by as many as 35 on two different occasions in the closing minutes of the game.

Acosta and the rest of the Falcons now have their sights on the Heartland Conference Tournament which will be held in Wichita, Kan. starting Friday.  UTPB is the defending Heartland Conference Tournament champion as it made the school's first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament in women's basketball a year ago.
