Box Score

Tana Villeal scored her first goal of the season to put The University of Texas of the Permian Basin women's soccer up 1-0 late in the first half, but a pair of goals halfway through the second half left the Falcons on the losing end of a 2-1 contest Saturday afternoon at the UTPB Soccer Field.

Villeal's first of the season came in the 38th minute of the scoreless game as she picked up a loose ball off of the foot of Nicole Leffingwellclose up in the center of the box and beat the Newman keeper to the right, giving UTPB a 1-0 lead.

The Falcons held a one-goal advantage until the 61st minute, when a UTPB foul inside the box in its own defensive zone led to a Newman penalty kick. Blair Terry converted on the opportunity for her second goal of the season to knot the match at 1-1.

Terry would strike paydirt once more eight minutes later with a well-struck ball, placing it underneath the cross bar and beyond the reach of UTPB keeper Jenna Easley's outstretched hands for the eventual game-winning goal of the day.

Seven different players recorded shots for UTPB, with Leffingwell, Alyssa Riddle, Alyssa Eich and Kourtnye Chandler taking two shots apiece.

UTPB hits the road this coming week, traveling to Texas A&M International. Game time Thursday night is set for 5 p.m.
