Women's Soccer Gives Up Lead in 4-2 Loss At Texas A&M International

Jessica Saulter's first goal of the season game The University of Texas of the Permian Basin women's soccer team a 1-0 lead in the first half, but Texas A&M International closed out the half with a pair of goals and built a lead that UTPB was unable to overcome in a 4-2 loss Thursday night in Laredo, Texas.

Saulter scored in the game's 16th minute, driving home a shot from just in front of the net for the contest's first goal on an assist from Kendeal Stark.

The Falcons' lead was short-lived, as the Dustdevils found an equalizer seven minutes later off of the foot of Briana Garcia. Kirsten Jennings gave TAMIU its first lead of the night in the 40th minute as it entered halftime holding a 2-1 lead.

Sam Zerelli scored what proved to be the game-winner for Texas A&M International shortly after halftime, shooting a successful penalty shot iat 54:48 after UTPB committed a foul inside the 16-yard box.

Alyssa Riddle brought the game back to a one-goal score in the 69th minute, heading in her second goal of the season on a pass by Alyssa Eich, her team-leading third assist of the season.

TAMIU needed just 43 seconds to take back a two-goal lead on a goal by Laura Twinem on the Dustdevils fourth and final goal of the night.

UTPB stays on the road this weekend, traveling to San Antonio for a Saturday afternoon contest at St. Mary's. Game time is scheduled for noon.
