The UTPB women's basketball team scored 69 first half points which eventually propelled the Falcons to a 112-80 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State.
Lauren Unger was red-hot from downtown, hitting 7-of-12 three-pointers, scoring a career-high 23 points.
Not only did the Falcons register a season-high in points scored, they also set a school record with 28 assists with
Teisha King leading the way with a career-high 10.
UTPB dominated nearly every statistic as it out-rebounded the Aggies 57-39, shot 55.8 percent – including 48.5 percent from behind the three-point line. Six different players scored in double-figures and 10 players scored at least three points on the afternoon.
The game was close early with both teams exchanging buckets until a 15-4 run gave UTPB a 45-32 lead with 6:38 to play in the first. The Aggies pulled within eight with 4:48 left in the first, but the Falcons closed out the half with a 22-7 run to lead 69-46 at the half. In the last 4:40 of the first half, UTPB drained four three-pointers.
The onslaught would continue in the second half as they would lead by as many as 47 with six minutes to play and led by at least 30 in the final 15 minutes of action.
UTPB improved to 12-6 overall and 3-2 in league play. The Falcons will be back in action next Thursday in Austin to take on St. Edward's.
