It took just a little over an hour for The University of Texas of the Permian Basin to take a 3-0 win over Sul Ross, marking the second-straight win for the Falcons, including the second-straight on their home court.
The Falcons hit .308 for the match, collecting 35 kills with just 11 errors, while forcing the Lobos to commit 23 errors with 14 kills for a -.111 percentage. While UTPB was having its way offensively, it also tallied 10 service errors as well as 37 digs and six block assists.
UTPB trailed just once, which was the opening point of the third game, but quickly took a 3-1 lead after a kill by
Terra Peil, a service ace by
Jasmine Cannon and an attack error by Sul Ross' Ana Rivera. The Falcons would not trail again the rest of the set.
Martha Gonzalez and Cannon, both freshmen for the Falcons, picked up four kills, while
Jessica Escalante had seven digs in two sets as the libero.
The Falcons will open Heartland Conference play Thursday when they host St. Edward's at 7 p.m. in the Falcon Dome.
