Leia Kirch scored a pair of goals for St. Mary's, including the game winning with 19 seconds to play in regulation as the Rattlers took a 3-2 win over The University of Texas of the Permian Basin.
UTPB had a commanding 2-0 lead in the first half thanks to
Kourtnye Chandler, who broke a scoreless tie at the 38
th minute after taking a pass from
Nicole Leffingwell which she one-timed in the lower left corner of the net.
She would extend the Falcons' lead five minutes later when her free kick from 25-yards out went through the hands of St. Mary's goal keeper Paola Ostos' hands.
The Rattlers cut into the lead when Kaitie Kasperitis took advantage of a one-on-one with keeper
Victoria Ramirez as her shot found the lower left corner of the net for their first score of the afternoon. At the 59
th minute, Kirch scored her first goal of the game, which tied the contest at two after taking a through pass from Kasperitis.
St. Mary's out-shot UTPB 18-16, including 10-5 in shots on goal. Chandler had seven of UTPB's shots, while
Alexandra Sobrino had four. Ramirez finished with seven saves on the afternoon as the Falcons fell to 3-12 overall and 2-6 in Heartland Conference play.
