SAN ANTONIO –
St. Mary's led from the tipoff until the final buzzer, taking a 74-65 victory over the University of Texas of the Permian Basin snapping the Falcons' two-game win streak.

The Falcons pulled within two on two different occasions but were never able to tie the game. A three-pointer by Louis Crane with 15:47 in the first made it 9-7, but the Rattlers answered with six-straight points to go up by eight. Mihai Urichianu also drained a three with just over seven minutes to play before the break to make it 19-17, but a 10-2 run by St. Mary's gave it a 10-point advantage. The Rattlers would take a 33-24 advantage into the locker room at halftime.

The second half was much of the same as the Falcons would pull within striking distance only to see St. Mary's go on a mini run to stop the threat. Five different players scored in double-figures for the Rattlers led by Jeff Campbell's 13 while three others scored 12.

St. Mary's took advantage of 18 turnovers by UTPB which led to 25 points and it shot nearly 50 percent from the field as the Rattlers improved to 2-0 in conference play.

The Falcons got two 13 point efforts from Jamal Holden and Erik Martin, while Crane added 11. With the loss, UTPB fell to 7-7 overall and 1-1 in Heartland conference action. The Falcons will be back in action Thursday when they host Dallas Baptist at 7 p.m.
