WEATHERFORD, Okla. – In a game that saw more than 50 fouls called and a combined 64 free throw attempts, the University of Texas of the Permian Basin Falcons came up on the short end of a 92-83 defeat to Southwestern Oklahoma.
UTPB (4-1), got 25-point performances from both Teisha King and Tammy Acosta. King was 11-of-13 from the field, including 2-of-2 from behind the three-point line, while Acosta made a living at the free throw line, draining 15-of-16 from the charity stripe.
The Falcons were unable to shut down SWOSU's Sumiya Darden, who put up 30 points and 16 rebounds. The Bulldogs shot 49 percent from the field and out-rebounded UTPB 47-38.
The contest was the fourth of the week and the second time the Falcons played on back-to-back days. UTPB won't get much rest as it returns home Wednesday to host Angelo State at 7 p.m. in the Falcon Dome.
