Women’s Basketball – Point Guard (2008-2012)
One of the most accomplished women’s basketball players in The University of Texas Permian Basin history, Tammy Acosta left a legacy on the court that remains unmatched. The El Paso, Texas, native redefined excellence during her four-year career, setting numerous records and earning a long list of accolades that still resonate within the program today.
Acosta's name is etched across nearly every major category in UTPB women's basketball history. From day one, she was a difference-maker – on the scoreboard, in the record books, and for her teammates. Her elite combination of scoring, playmaking and leadership made her one of the most dynamic players in the Heartland Conference and a foundational figure in UTPB Athletics.
As the Falcons’ all-time leader in points, assists, and free throws, Acosta’s impact continues to set the standard for generations of Falcons to come.

2009–10 (Sophomore)
- Averaged 14.6 points, 4.5 assists, 2.4 steals per game
- Heartland Co-Player of the Year
- Scored a career-high 30 points vs. Texas A&M International
- Ranked top-5 in the league in four offensive categories
2010–11 (Junior)
- Averaged 14.5 points and 104 assists
- Helped lead UTPB to its first Heartland Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance
- Named All-Region and All-Tournament
- Surpassed the 1,000-point mark for her career
2011–12 (Senior)
- Transitioned to more of a playmaker role while still leading the team
- Broke the single-season assist record (152)
- Set single-game assist record (11 vs. St. Edward’s)
