Katie Neira enters her first season as a UT Permian Basin assistant volleyball coach in 2019.

Neira is coming from McPherson College (Kan.) as the previous Graduate Assistant for the Bulldogs in the 2018 volleyball season. In her season at McPherson College the volleyball team finished first in the KCAC with an undefeated record of 12-0 and was named Assistant Coach of the Year. The Bulldogs were nationally ranked and made an appearance for the first time in program history at the NAIA National Championship Tournament in Sioux City, Iowa.

Neira was an outside hitter for four seasons (2014-2017) at Bethel College (Kan.). She was voted KCAC Freshman of the Year in 2014 and was named All-KCAC Third Team all four years. Neira posted over 1,000 kills in her career.

Neira earned a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education with a minor in Sport Management from Bethel in 2018 and is pursuing her Master’s degree from Emporia State University (Kan.).

Neira, from San Antonio, Texas, attended Harlandale High School.
